Do you actually purchase these from a bank, or who is it that offers these prepaid cards?

I think some bank offer them, but your best bet would be try to google them and I'm sure you'll get a list of people that offer the service. Good luck!
Bank debit cards draw fund directly from your checking account so you aren't really purchasing the card, it still belongs to the bank.Originally Posted by trickrtreat

The best thing to do is look at your local brick and mortar banks and credit unions to find a debit card.
I guess pre-paid debit cards are for people that don't have a bank account. There are people that use money orders instead of checks, so having that card would be probably a convenience.
this card sounds like a good idea and if you think about it it could come very handy in a situation where you would need it i will look into it aswell
I am seeing these cards in supermarkets and drug stores. I understand they sell well.
How much are these cards? How much is the fee for using them? I guess there has to be some way that they are making money. I guess a 1% of the charge would be too cheap. Unless there is already a price on them. Does anybody knows?
I really don't know - berlin. I would ***ume somebody is making money off of them, but I never really looked at the rates.
I believe that the cards are sold with a certain amount on them for a percentage over what the face value allows. I think that is how they make money on them. I may be wrong, but that is what my understanding is.
