I want it to go even farther. No cash, no cards, just a computer chip you swipe. I know Visa? has something like this currently, but it is along way from becoming the standard.

I think that's a pretty good idea, but if you like not having your purchases tracked, it might be best to hit the cash machine in the store before you go to the check out line. I just get really concerned about how these "innovations" are being pushed so hard. When that happens there are always ulterior motives that are not in your best interest.

Unless there is some kind of "protection pocket" for that chip, I wouldn't use it, because then anybody can come close enough and take the chip info from my purse and I wouldn't even notice!

Of course having been in retail there is always that time when the lines go down. The card is useless.

Also, there's another thing I keep in mind: What's the hurry? Because to go shopping, one shouldn't be in a hurry! As simple as that!

The problem with that is you remove too much control over what other information might be gathered by the chip. One of the motivations for earning m oney is having control. The more money you have, the more control you have through the availability of choices. The act of using a card, or cash, is a ritual closely ***ociated with that control.

The day may come when we do not even need a card to swipe. Your debit account may be attached to your biometrics.

I certainly hope that doesn't happen!!! Already "Big Brother" knows too much about me and my expenses and my life precisely because of my credit card usage! I am trying to NOT use the card as much as I used to, simply to avoid that and perhaps change a bit my "lifestyle" and not be so available for marketers!
