    Default Unpaid credit card bill

    Hi there,

My friend has just left Australia and went back to London where he is from. He left behind him a credit card bill of over 10,000 Australian dollars on his visa card.

My question is if he does not pay this off will it come back to haunt him in the UK i.e. is there a link between Australian credit card companies and UK credit card companies or is he only in trouble if he goes back to Ausrtalia?

And if the credit card company does catch up with him in the UK now do they do this? Through the p***port number you use when you sign up or something else

    Thanks

So is this just want you think or do you know this for a fact?

He has other mates that did it a couple of years ago and they were not caught

Personally, I don't think it's worth the h***le of worrying about whether you'll get in trouble or not. Just tell him to try his best to pay off his debts.

I'm not a legal expert or immiration attorney. But I do not think it is a matter of getting caught. Different countries have different versions of our credit bureaus and the any bad report probably means that person "may" have trouble getting credit cards or loans in that country in the future.
