    Default Reducing fees on cards

I have First Premier, Orchard and Rewards 660. Orchard seems to have the most reasonable fees. I think I am still ways from getting no annual fee regular cards. Has anyone had any experience in trying to reduce the annual fee or monthly processing fees for either the first premier or rewards 660 card?

I would try to negotiate lower fees with first premier. They are likely to lower them. You'll probably have no luck with the other two.

Default I've been told to be pro-active

Since there are plenty of credit card companies out there trying to get our business, I've been told to call their customer service and tell them you are thinking of moving to another credit card offering a better rate. Let them know you'd like to stay with them, if they would reduce their rate. Couldn't hurt. We are the customers! Also, I've been told you should be able to increase your credit line the same way.

Default Has Anyone Actually Done This

I've heard that if you call and tell them you're thinking of switching they'll lower your interest rate or raise your limit. However I've never heard it done with anual fees. I would expect fees to be fixed. Has anyone actually tried this method for getting fees lowered and had any luck?

I've seen that advice many times on TV, but I have actually never done it. The last thing I did was send them a letter because of a problem with a late payment because they changed my date due and I didn't noticed. I risked losing my preferred interest rate on a fairly high loan, but they kept my interest rate so far... I hope it continues that way.

I Think calling them to say that you are thinking of changing cards might work, but so many people do this that I just bet they ask which card you are thinking of, just to test your resolve.

I found that if I pay a card off, then let them know that I will be closing the account because th rate is too high, I get a better response.
