    Question removing authorized user

How can I clear my credit? My mom had me as an authorized user on one of her credit cards since I was in college. She has defaulted and is now in collections .. yet it shows on my credit reports and keeping me from getting credit. I understand that I am not legally responsible yet I am getting penalized because it shows on my credit. How can I get that removed? I already tried calling the credit card company but they will not talk to me because the account has been charged off.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks papasoul. Please if someone knows we would surely be grateful.

Arrow How to be removed as an authorized user

Well, your mom is going to have to contact the credit card company, or the collections company.

You can also try to contact the collection company and have your name removed, but they may not speak to you either.

Unfortunately, this is something that your mom is most likely going to handle.

You can always ask her for the proper information, or make the call while you are there with her. Usually the account owner is the only one who can remove an authorized user.

    Angry Also Having this problem.

I am also having a problem similer to this. My sister got a store credit card maxed it out and never told me that I was on that account with her. I never received a card, I never signed on any dotted line, I had no knowledge of this until of course the collections started calling my home asking for my sister and when I told them she didnt live here they then asked for me. I tried to explain to this one guy she did this without my knowledge, and that I would like to make this situation right, but first I want to see the signiture. If she forged my signiture well then her & I will square off in court.
My sister swears that she only gave them my name & phone # as a emergency contact?? never heard of a credit card asking for a emergency contact, and why would they send a card in my name to her home? Which like I said I never knew anything about this.
I have just finished cleaning up all my credit from my past, and was finally on the right track. My credit score was coming up, slowly but it was getting there, and poof now this. 2 of my current credit cards that are from the same bank have frozen my accounts. This whole thing is a nightmare.
Anybody please, point me in the right direction...
    Thanks in advance

    Go to freecreditreport.com
When you see this item on your credit report, file a dispute. (ONLINE)
Say you knew nothing of this, did not authorize this, and are not liable for this. You signed no do***ents and made no verbal agreements.

She's still going to have to get her name off of the debt though, otherwise they will just keep reporting, and could even sue her.

So whatever you need to do, do it fast . Have your sister call them and take your name off. That's the quickest resolution.
