What is a good number of cards to carry?

I am a heavy charger and carry four (one MC, VISA, AMEX, and Discover).

How many do others carry?

I have 4 cards which I actively use now

Blue Cash
Chase Flexible Rewards
Amex Platinum
Merrill visa

Blue Cash + Amex Plat are the staples. The rest I use to check them out (since I write about cards!)

I, too, am a heavy charger and am constantly trying to reduce my wallet size. Now, I carry 3 credit cards: Discover (primary), American Express and MasterCard.

Now I just need to get a TrueEarnings AMEX to consolidate my Costco membership with my credit card!
