Default What is the best cash back reward credit card?

I used to have both the Citi Dividend and Chase Cash Plus Rewards. Both used to pay 5% cash rebates on EDP. Now, Citi Dividend only pays 2% and Chase stopped their cash plus 5% and now instead I see the Freedom card promoted all the time on TV. I checked out chase site and see that the rebate is only 3% on EDP.

I am thinking of alternative cards and maybe even getting a few to earn cash rebates. What cards are you using these days. Would appreciate some ideas as well.

Don't think there is any best cash rewards card. I use a combo..

    1. blue cash - for 5% EDP
    2. BP - 2% for travel and dining (especially dining).
    3. Discover gas - 5% gas (especially before my blue cash hits $6,500)..

I still have the Citi Dividend Platinum Card - went from 5% to 2% (but it now includes utilities)...so cable bills still go to Citi.

But I also have the Blue Cash and Discover Gas. Before I reach the $6,500 threshold on the Blue Cash, I use the Discover and Citi Div for EDP.

That's my combo now - at least for the moment.

I have the HSBC Direct - pays 5% for EDP. Also have the Costco - 3% for dining and 2% for travel. This is my combo, works for me

Great that you have the HSBC Direct. I checked the site and looks like it is no longer being offered!! Will regular 5% EDP cash back ever come back?

Blue Cash + Discover Gas for me

I am still keeping the Citi Dividend Card - 2% on my cable and utility bills..

Looks like a few of us have the same combination!

I currently use the Blue Cash and Discover Platinum

    Blue Cash for 5% EDP

Discover for 5% on GETMORE partners. Having said that, earning 5% with Discover is more opportunistic as the merchants rotate and you do not necessary buy from that merchant. But I still look out for deals.

I am seriously considering the Discover Gas since the Amex 5% only kicks in after $6,500.

for me, the amex costco is the best. 3% for restaurant dining, 2% for travel. Yes no 5% like blue cash, but no tiers either. I do not spend a lot on my card (around slightly above $10,000) - so blue cash will not work for me.

I now use the Blue Cash and Discover Gas Card. The blue cash does not pay 5% on EDP for the first $6500 in spending after each card anniversary. So in between, I use the Discover Gas for gasoline.

    Hi,

I use Chase Perfect Card(TM) Mastercard 6% rebates on ALL gas purchases at ANY gas station for the first 90 days
3% rebates on ALL gas purchases at ANY gas station after the first 90 days
1% rebates on ALL other purchases made anywhere
